Uniforms & Gentlemen’s Clothing
![]()
The Ladies Dressmaker sews military uniforms and select gentleman’s clothing. All clothing is sewn using period appropriate fabrics with visible workmanship authentic to the time period. I do sew some interior seams using modern methods in order to keep the cost affordable. Buttonholes on gentlemen's garments are machine-sewn unless the customer requests hand-worked buttonholes at an additional cost.
Military uniforms are available for both Federal and Confederate impressions using the fabric of your choice. Shirts, vests, underclothing as well as sturdy fabric gun cases, housewives and poke sacks are also available. Examples shown below are just a few of the items I have sewn.

Sack Coat/Fatigue Blouse
The Federal sack coat has the standard rounded collar, kidney pocket in the left front chest and a 4 button closure. Coat can be made lined or unlined.
A high quality fatigue blouse is at the core of an excellent Union infantry impression. Construction and materials combine to create the impression. |
Buttonholes are hand worked. |
As with many originals, this garment has a two piece back and is made to fit loosely on the wearer. |
Like 75% of originals issues, the fatigue blouse is lined. The required kidney pocket is created between the lining and main fabric. |

US Footman's Trousers
These are sky blue issue trousers as issued to Union soldiers. They are made of sky blue kersey wool and feature hand worked buttonholes, vent pockets and a watchpocket. The vents are properly worked as well.

There is a slit on each side of the body and gussets under the arms for ease in wearing. This shirt is patterned from a military issue shirt. This shirt is also available with a 3 button placket opening.

Civillian Suit
Civillian suits can be made of a variety of mateials and styles. The suit shown was chosen by the wearer for comfort in the summer. The jacket is a sack style, as are army fatigue blouses. This style is designed to fit loosely on the wearer and not be constricting. This suit is also constructed of linen.

Buttonholes are hand worked. There are three patch pockets on the jacket. |
|
Trousers feature complimentary colored buttons and vent pockets. |
