Uniforms & Gentlemen’s Clothing

curlies

The Ladies Dressmaker sews military uniforms and select gentleman’s clothing. All clothing is sewn using period appropriate fabrics with visible workmanship authentic to the time period. I do sew some interior seams using modern methods in order to keep the cost affordable. Buttonholes on gentlemen's garments are machine-sewn unless the customer requests hand-worked buttonholes at an additional cost.

Military uniforms are available for both Federal and Confederate impressions using the fabric of your choice. Shirts, vests, underclothing as well as sturdy fabric gun cases, housewives and poke sacks are also available. Examples shown below are just a few of the items I have sewn.

Sack Coat/Fatigue Blouse

The Federal sack coat has the standard rounded collar, kidney pocket in the left front chest and a 4 button closure. Coat can be made lined or unlined.

Phil Fatigue Blouse

A high quality fatigue blouse is at the core of an excellent Union infantry impression. Construction and materials combine to create the impression.

Buttonhole

Buttonholes are hand worked.

Sack back

As with many originals, this garment has a two piece back and is made to fit loosely on the wearer.

Blouse lining

Like 75% of originals issues, the fatigue blouse is lined. The required kidney pocket is created between the lining and main fabric.
